More added-value with 2nd generation mobility, application platform and supply chain enhancements
29.11.2005
Aldata today announced the general availability of the next release of its G.O.L.D. supply chain software for November 2005

Containing technical, application development and business functional enhancements, G.O.L.D. V5.0.4 retains Aldata’s position in being one step ahead in the global supply chain software market.
Mobile Retail Services
The second generation of Aldata’s G.O.L.D. Mobile solution (the first generation was announced at the end of 2004) represents Aldata’s continued move into services-oriented enterprises based on services-oriented architectures. Additional functions, covering both traditional store back-office and new in-store activities, have been mobilised and include transfers and returns, article management, pricing and shrinkage amongst others.
Application Platform
The G.O.L.D. Application Platform (GAP) is another step in Aldata’s strategy in making its software more open and flexible. Based on G.O.L.D. development toolsets and libraries, the application platform will enable, for customers and Aldata partners, the rapid development of complementary processes and facilitate more flexibility in implementation projects. Moreover, the combination of Aldata’s business application G.O.L.D. with the Application Platform will make business integration with existing and future infrastructures less complex.
Supply Chain Enhancements
A range of enhancements to Aldata’s G.O.L.D. business application are also included in the November release. These cover functional extensions to Master Data Workflow, Open To Buy, Promotions (Allocation), Franchise Management and Import Management, Wholesale Mix and Match, Demand Forecasting (Causal Effects management and Budget forecasting), Traceability in-store and Warehousing functionality. Technical enhancements include complementary XML interfaces (inbound, outbound and push / pull mode) and migration to Oracle 10G and Oracle RAC. With respect to Linux, Red Hat is supported under Itanium processors for the database server and Suse 3.0 and Mandrake 10.1 for the client side.
“Our product development continues strongly in both technology and business functionality. As G.O.L.D. is already fully web-oriented, its services-orientation is a logical step in its continued evolution. With the Application Platform, we are enhancing the openness of G.O.L.D. and, last but not least, we continue to add value to the richness of G.O.L.D. functions for our customers”, says Patrick BUELLET, Aldata Group Development Director and Deputy General Manager of Aldata Solution S.A.
“In responding to market demand, Aldata took the lead in providing G.O.L.D. Mobile to free up in-store resources, reduce complexity and thus improve customer service but also to reduce store IT costs for the retailer. The November release of Aldata G.O.L.D. supports our customers further in taking full advantage of state-of-the-art technology and in the optimisation and execution of their supply chains”, says René Homeyer, CEO of Aldata Solution.
