Elektroskandia use Consafe Logistic’s Voice Connect

ElektroSkandia has chosen Consafe Logistics as a WMS supplier including voice control to their distribution centre in Alfaset, Oslo
ElektroSkandia aims to use the new system to increase balance security, improve delivery capacity and achieve greater efficiency and quality in their warehouse management processes. The project also includes more than 50 TraffiCom computers.
Elektroskandia AS is a leading supplier of electrical goods in Scandinavia. The Norwegian head office and distribution centre is located in Alfaset, Oslo. The company supplies goods to around 21 different wholesale outlets in a wide geographical area. ElektroSkandia’s customers include Electrical contractors, electrical suppliers, industrial and Offshore suppliers. There company has around 45,000 items in its product range, 16000 of which are held in stock.
Elektroskandia was looking for a system integrator able to supply a total solution, i,e, manage both the system and hardware in the same project. Investing in Astro WMS enables Elektroskandia to meet all its goals. The company is also implementing paperless picking, supported by 53 TraffiCom Wave computers from Consafe Logistics.
Greater efficiency through voice control
The project also includes implementing a voice control system at the distribution centre. Ten voice terminals will be installed in the 20 automatic lifts currently used. By using voice control the company can improve ergonomics and greatly increase efficiency. Pickers are currently using paper-based routines or mobile equipment placed on their arms. They will now receive information directly in their ears enabling them to work with both hands free.

The project is due to go live at Easter 2006.
