KNAPP provides Frutura with 24/7 SAP® EWM hotline support

In December 2020, KNAPP IT Solutions GmbH, the KNAPP group’s expert for solutions, implementation and service concerning SAP® EWM, began providing SAP® EWM-Hotline support to the main warehouse of the Frutura Obst & Gemüse Kompetenzzentrum GmbH in Hartl, Austria. Another site will follow at the end of 2021 in Vorchdorf, Austria. The ITIL® certified hotline service is available to all SAP® EWM installations, including those from third-party suppliers.
Frutura produces and markets more than 4,500 different types of fruits and vegetables from all over the world. The company supplies all of the stores of the Spar supermarket chain, roughly 1,600, from their headquarters in Hartl and the subsidiary in Sattledt, both in Austria. Every day, 70 trucks arrive at the warehouse in Hartl. The location in Sattledt currently handles about 15 percent of this volume. The new warehouse in Vorchdorf, planned for 2021, will manage roughly the same as the Hartl location.
Frutura uses SAP®S4/HANA with embedded SAP®EWM for warehouse management and to fulfil the transparency and traceability requirements for fruit and vegetable production. All operating processes within the system landscape are available on mobile devices (RF terminals): Goods-in and quality check, handling unit management, wave release and picking, inventory, packing and goods-out. At the moment, about 200 SAP®EWM users are working with the warehouse management system at Frutura. As the orders are quite large and must be delivered on time, KNAPP provides 24/7 support for these users in the warehouses in Hartl and Sattledt (since December 2020) and at the new Vorchdorf location (starting at the end of 2021).
Round-the-clock SAP®EWM expertise
The KNAPP hotline support for the warehouses was ramped up over the course of a month. This allowed the KNAPP hotline team to also provide support for those SAP®EWM features specific to Frutura. A workshop was held ahead of time to evaluate the requirements, and based on this, a tailor-made offer was drawn up. Frutura and KNAPP are banking on a long-term partnership. With this in mind, KNAPP will optimize the warehouse management system at the Hartl headquarters starting in January 2021 and roll this out to the new warehouse in Vorchdorf at the end of 2021.
