Manhattan Associates Receives Award for ‘Best IT Project in 011’ from China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

Global supply chain optimization provider, Manhattan Associates, Inc. has won the award for ‘Best IT Project in 2011’ from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing for the second consecutive year. Manhattan Associates outperformed the competition by showcasing the recent successful deployment of its Distribution Management solutions for Sinopharm, China’s largest pharmaceuticals distributor.

Manhattan Associates was recognized for its best-in-class supply chain technology and the numerous benefits it has delivered to Sinopharm from its Warehouse Management and Slotting Optimization solutions. Through optimizing its warehouse processes, Sinopharm has been able to better analyse the performance of its warehouses and identify areas where productivity and service level improvements were required. Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management System also enabled the company to reduce overall distribution costs for manufacturing customers and provide them with timely, accurate and high-quality distribution services.

Mr Gu Yiming, general manager of Sinopharm’s Logistics Management Department, commented, “Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management System has supported our rapid expansion while facilitating improvements to overall operational efficiency. Manhattan Associates sets an exceptionally high standard in terms of performance, experience and professionalism, and this has been significant in helping us expand our distribution network across China and enabling us to maintain our position as market leader.”

The awards aim to showcase some of the most successful deployments of innovative technology in China and how these initiatives are driving step-change improvements in the country’s logistics industry. The 2011 awards were co-organized by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Henan Province’s Department of Industry and Information Technology. The awards event attracted nearly 1,000 participants.

Cui Zhongfu, vice chairman and secretary general of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said, “The growth of and increased investment in the logistics industry has significantly contributed to China’s economic prosperity. Despite a general trend of business growth, there are still some companies that do not have the IT systems in place to provide a truly integrated logistics service. Through these awards, we want to promote the need for practical and innovative IT solutions that will enable them to adopt a best practice approach to supply chain management, grow their organizations and achieve greater success.”

Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management solution is designed for optimal collaboration and communication with an extensive network of suppliers and partners. Slotting Optimization scientifically determines the best picking profile for a distribution center, enabling timely, intelligent decisions as ordering trends change. Going beyond picking, packing and shipping, the system uses advanced algorithms to mathematically organize warehouse operations, transforming warehouse logistics into a critical strategic component of the supply chain.

Jeff Baum, Manhattan Associates’ senior vice president, International (Asia Pacific), commented, “Manhattan Associates works hard to build mutually rewarding, long-term relationships with its clients and awards such as this are testament to that commitment. It is an honour to receive such a strong vote of confidence in our innovative technologies and in our ability to work with clients all over China to successfully deploy those technologies to support their businesses.”
