Software update for Bombardier Transportation

22.10.2012

Bombardier Transportation GmbH, based in Hennigsdorf near Berlin, has updated its warehouse management system (WMS) from viad@tWMS 6.2 to viad@tWMS 7.1.

The WMS manages the automated double deep unit-load area, the automated double deep container area, the radio-controlled floor bulk storage area and another five manual warehouse sections.

With the new software version, the forklift control system now includes handheld dialogs in QVGA format with a screen resolution of 320 × 240 pixels. All goods receipt transactions in the floor bulk storage areas can now be entered using handhelds by choice. If goods receipt has not been performed at one of the two goods receipt workstations, but palletizing has already been done in SAP, then the components for production are received via a “virtual pallet number” and all pallet order items are posted automatically. Bombardier combines outbound orders using networks and sorts them according to the planned date. Every SAP order can contain an optional number of networks and one network can relate to an optional number of transfer orders. After posting, the quantities are calculated back and allocated to the SAP transfer orders.

In addition, picked items can be easily repacked. There is also a separate dialog available for posting picked items from network orders to the buffer area in production.
