SOLVO Identifies Growth Areas at Meeting with Key Partners

04.07.2013

In the beginning of June, The SOLVO-organized event for key partners and clients was successfully held in Saint-Petersburg with a two-day conference called “Solvo.WMS – Current State and Prospects for Growth” under the motto of "Growing Together."

During the business part of the conference, SOLVO representatives spotlighted new features of Solvo.WMS as well as up-to-date versions of add-on modules with real-life examples of implementations and the latest technologies used at warehouses.

Aleksey Smirnov, assistant general director for WMS, presented an overview of new functional capabilities of Solvo.WMS and shed light on the system’s growth areas: the continuously developing functional capabilities, which are already available to company clients. These include dynamic picking channels, multipicking, put-to-store, and EDI.

Sergey Buhovenko, assistant general director of corporate accounts, presented the software lineup and discussed the framework for interacting with Solvo.WMS as well as the licensing process and the main procedures involved in support service agreements.

Next, the conference participants were presented with additional stand-alone system modules. The “Remote Warehouse” module is already being used at warehouses of SOLVO’s clients. This product makes it possible to simultaneously manage several physical remote warehouses under a single Solvo.WMS umbrella system. Moreover, each warehouse can still retain and function under their unique parameters and configurations. This module is an effective tool for minimizing server equipment, licensing, and service costs.

The yard management module, Solvo.Yard, was presented by Maxim Maximov, the head of the analytics and consulting department. This module automates processing of road transport (trucks and trailers) on the warehouse territory by organizing traffic flows, recording truck yard movements, and enabling quick and secure passage through the gate. The greatest advantage of the module is the reduction of time needed to process a specific truck.

The Solvo.Billing module already operates at warehouse complexes of SOLVO’s clients and its new version was presented by Ilya Rubinchik, head of the Solvo.WMS implementation department. The module calculates the cost of secure storage services provided for commercial, logistics operators, manages contracts, and prepares paperwork for service billing. The usage of this module increases the competitiveness of a 3PL warehouse, provides a high degree of flexibility and transparency for the services rendered, and minimizes the possibility of transaction errors with stakeholders.

Another module, which will be of interest to commercial warehouses, was presented by Oleg Ignashev, the head of “SOLVO” projects. Solvo.WEB gives 3PL clients the ability to view real-time information about the state of request processing and inventory via the Internet using only the browser and without the need to install any additional software.

The business program of the event also included a separate presentation on voice technology at the warehouse and the potential benefits that can be attained in tandem with the Solvo.WMS solution. Oleg Ignashev conducted a live demonstration of how voice technology can greatly enhance operations by emphasizing its ability to increase productivity and accuracy of warehouse operations and reduce the usage of labels and pick lists. The technology also has multi-language support to overcome the problem for personnel, which may speak different languages. The topic of voice technology was then continued by a report from Aleksey Kabaruhin, the key account manager for SOLVO, along with representatives from OPTISCAN (Finland) – a partner of SOLVO. Their report was dedicated to one of today’s leading voice technologies – the VOCOLLECT system.

The business program was concluded with a word from SOLVO’s long-standing partner, Honeywell, which described the latest developments in warehouse radio equipment.

The second day of the conference included a visit to the production facility and warehouse of one of SOLVO’s major clients, “Baltika Brewery.” Conference participants became familiar with all stages of the beer brewing process and got the chance to visit the plant’s museum. Throughout the course of the two days, company clients did not only learn about SOLVO’s latest developments, but also got the chance to share knowledge, get to know one another, and experience the charm of Saint Petersburg during the white nights.
