Unitechnik realizes central spare parts warehouse for Claas

19.04.2018

Agricultural machine manufacturer Claas is investing into its central warehouse for spare parts distribution: the new nine-aisle, high-bay warehouse in a silo-design will ensure the global supply of spare parts on 6,000 m². Approx. 40,000 of the more than 175,000 spare parts for combine harvesters, tractors, field choppers, telescopic handlers, mowers, and baling presses will in the future be stored on or in 58,000 pallets and pallet cages.

The heart of the system will be the electric monorail conveyor as a loading-zone loop that is part of the automated warehouse. Thanks to double load-handling equipment on the storage and retrieval machines and the EMC vehicles' ability to accept two pallets, the new system will allow for a highly dynamic handling of the transport units.

The new picking area based on the stock-to-person principle is also part of the order. We use a virtual reality model to help customers experience the design of the work stations live; this helps make workstations as ergonomic as possible. Reaching heights for containers can, for example, be planned precisely in an early phase.

The new logistic system is to be put into operation toward the end of 2019. Interested parties can watch the construction progress from the highway. The warehouse block with a height of 30 meters is being constructed directly next to the A2 at the Hamm-Uentrop exit.
