70 Million Goods per Year: inconso and BLG LOGISTICS Have PUMA’s Back

08.10.2019

BLG LOGISTICS and inconso continue their long-standing collaboration at the new PUMA logistics center

With the groundbreaking ceremony in mid-February 2019 it was finally time: The green light was given for the new distribution center of the sporting goods manufacturer PUMA at its German Geiselwind location. The new facility is scheduled to go live in 2021; it will handle over 70 million items per year by 2023 and is designed for performance. With 63,500 square meters of logistics space, the facility will nearly fully automatically manage logistics processes. The core is a system landscape of the logistics software specialist inconso; the company was tasked by the general contractor BLG LOGISTICS with the implementation of inconsoWMS (Warehouse Management System), inconsoWCS (Warehouse Control System), inconsoDSM (Dock & Slot Management) and inconsoSDS (Shipping & Dispatch System). The inconso solution also controls all yard loading and unloading processes. Using inconsoYMS, it creates process-related interfaces between the warehouse and transports and ensures seamless logistics processes for managing over 120,000 products.

The key performance indicators of the technology are considerable: Over 22 kilometers of conveyor technology will be installed in the two-story multichannel system. The technical components will be provided by the TGW Logistics Group, which will also install the fully automatic 24-aisle shuttle with approximately 700,000 locations. One special feature is the robot system for fully automated palletization, another is the goods-to-person picking connected to the shuttle. The warehouse management system inconsoWMS, which ensures complete integration of the technical components via standard connectors, controls picking containers or pallet calculation.

BLG LOGISTICS commissioned inconso, the logistics software specialist, for this project mainly due to its understanding of increasing multichannel and e-commerce requirements. »Fortunately, inconso and BLG are continuing their long-standing partnership in Geiselwind,« Bertram Salzinger, CEO of inconso, emphasizes. »This project also showcases the broad coverage of inconso solutions, which stand for performance even in an industry characterized by constant change.«
