Value retailer focuses on process improvement as it accelerates expansion to 200 stores across the U.K.

RedPrairie Corporation, a productivity solutions provider, is implementing its Warehouse Management and Workforce Management, Slotting Optimisation, and Transportation Portal solutions at fast expanding value retailer, The Range.

The Range stocks thousands of home, leisure and garden products with a focus on providing consumers with style and quality at affordable prices. Established by entrepreneur Chris Dawson, the company currently operates 46 stores nationwide, employs over 3,000 staff, and offers 65,000 products across 16 departments including furniture, home furnishings, homewares, DIY, and arts and crafts. The Range plans to open more than 160 new outlets over the next four years.

RedPrairie’s Warehouse Management solution is scheduled to go live with The Range in December 2010, followed by Workforce Management, Slotting, and Transportation Portal.

Alex Simpkin, Logistics Manager at The Range, said: “With an aggressive plan to increase our number of outlets significantly by 2015, we required a highly scalable and flexible system. RedPrairie’s suite has proven capabilities in a high volume environment, and will enable us to better manage our growth, while increasing productivity, accuracy and customer satisfaction.”

Martin Hiscox, Managing Director and President International, RedPrairie, comments: “The Range is a perfect example of a retailer that recognises the needs of customers, and has expanded rapidly by offering real value. To ensure customers continue to receive a high quality service, the company requires a platform that has the capability to meet high volumes, which is exactly what RedPrairie can deliver.”
