Savoye, still in the race

28.10.2011

The spare parts wholesaler, Bihr (motorbikes, quads and jet-skis) has adopted Savoye (logistic engineering) to convert and mechanise the three new cells on its platform in Bartenheim (68), in Alsace.

Increased sales, range and reference development, (85.000 to date): Bihr has decided to expand. In 2012, the spare parts wholesaler will build two new cells on its logistic platform in Bartenheim (13.500m2 currently). Bihr has entrusted Savoye, its partner for the last 7 years, and the latter’s subsidiary, a-SIS, with their conversion, automation and IT equipment.

During the first phase (end of 2011), the group will convert and complete the order fulfilment line with stations which it installed in 2005, so that it can process a wider range of product types. A PAC 600® (packaging erection and wedging-lidding) packaging machine, a tunnel with lid fitting, an empty tray return system to replenish the line, as well as an automated box reception station will be installed.

During the second phase (end of 2012), Savoye will deal with converting the platform’s goods-in zone and the implementation of low noise level conveyors. The equipment will be driven by a-SIS’ LOGISTICS MANAGER SUITE’s Logys® WMS module.

« Their implementation represents an investment of approximately 3 million Euros. The equipment will allow us to accelerate the order fulfilment and dispatch rate, from 2.500 to 3.500 boxes a day », explains Alain BUSSOD, Savoye’s Sales Director for France.

Passionate about speed in all fields, Bihr delivers orders made before 4.30 p.m. on the same day in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, and on D+2 to the rest of Europe. The company which takes part in the 24-hour Le Mans Motorbike race at the end of September can spare a record or two!
