SBB sets the switch for future-proof logistics

08.12.2011

inconso AG implements SAP LES, SAP TRM and RF in sites of Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen

The Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen (SBB) commissioned inconso with the realization and implementation of a SAP LES warehouse management and forklift management system as well as with the introduction of RF supported processes. The front-end RF (radio frequency) dialog is represented with a SAP certified system from the Zurich company e-switch. With the project „paperless picking CH“, the logistics processes should be standardized and streamlined as well as all processes with a maximal automation degree and designed for the easy operation. The new logistics system is connected to the existing SAP ERP and implemented first in the industry plant Olten. The roll-out is foreseen to the other sites in Bellinzona, Yverdon, Zurich and Biel.

The excellent SAP logistics competence and numerous references in complex re-engineering projects during operations spoke for inconso. For inconso, this confirms the strategy of market growth for the SAP logistics project business in Switzerland. For the secure and on-time railway operations, train preparation, train controlling and roll material management along with the train maintenance and modernization are important for the plants. For these inconspicuous, but critical services, an efficient and transparent replacement parts management from procurement and delivery of the required parts to the production sites through to the recycling. The reserved material consists of ca. 95,000 active products that represent the entire replacement parts spectrum for maintaining the fleet. The material portfolio reaches from small volume mass parts to large volume assembly sets. Special handling is given to high value and sensitive products such as control systems, circuit boards, instruments and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

With the changeover to a highly efficient, RF supported warehouse management system, the operative logistics system should be prepared for further volume growth and the future performance capabilities secured. At the same time, SBB strives to improve the process productivity and quality through higher process automation and the extension of the warehouse management system possibilities.
