Van Deursen Retail opts for Astro WMS from Consafe Logistics

Van Deursen Retail, home to the Shoeby and Lake Side formulas, signed an agreement with WMS Specialist Consafe Logistics for the delivery of Astro WMS, including server and RF hardware.
ASTRO WMS will allow for better management of warehouse processes at Van Deursen Retail, thereby increasing the quality of the warehouse process. By choosing ASTRO WMS, Van Deursen Retail has opted for a best-of-breed solution that can be used flexibly and that makes it possible to professionally support retail and e-commerce processes both now and in the future.
The WMS project is to start immediately and will be completed by December 2012.
Control over all goods flows
There are four goods flows within Van Deursen Retail, all of which can be managed through Astro WMS: retail (with VAL and hanging garments), webshop distribution, inter-branch traffic and non-resale goods.
The system will better streamline and optimise these sometimes complex processes, resulting in increased productivity and greater flexibility in logistics management. It will also be easier to monitor progress and make goods traceable throughout the entire process. Van Deursen Retail expects that the implementation of WMS will enable them to further professionalise internal and external services and logistics to the more than 200 Shoeby and 100 Lake Side branches. The system will ensure lower integrated costs, while both the internal and external service levels will increase.
"One-Stop-Shop" supplier
Van Deursen Retail was looking for a “One-Stop-Shop” supplier for both the software and hardware, as well as their maintenance. The WMS solution also had to be linked to the ABM Pick to Light system, ERP system from Navision and the Magento webshop solution. The goal was to find a standard software package with enough flexibility to support changes in the future as well. Consafe Logistics and Astro WMS sufficiently meet these requirements.
Preliminary studies provide good insight
Van Deursen Retail conducted the necessary research before making its decision. Adrie Kappen, Logistics Manager at Van Deursen Retail, explains: "After conducting preliminary research and pre-studies of two parties, we ultimately chose Consafe Logistics, first and foremost because Astro WMS meets all the functional specifications in our report with a minimum of customisation. This solution is truly flexible and extremely user-friendly, and has a nice look & feel."
