PSI receives major follow-up order from ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe

13.09.2012

Additional logistics system provided for Duisburg-South location

PSI was commissioned by ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe to provide a warehouse management and crane coordinate system for its Heavy Plate Unit in Duisburg-South. Based on the latest system version, the new warehouse management system extends the functionality of the existing PSImetals solution to include additional areas of production. The project is expected to run for just over a year.

After successfully implementing the system for finishing and shipment, a warehouse management system will ensure the utmost transparency in material tracking and control in the biggest area of production with quenching and tempering lines, shearing and slitting lines and ultrasonic testing. The optimum use of existing resources (transport devices, equipment, warehouse space) will further increase delivery performance. The long-term goal of ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe is to use a standardised warehouse management system to monitor and control logistics in all 11 production halls of its Heavy Plate Unit in Duisburg-South. The final stage of planning also includes integrating the production area for hot-rolled sheets as well as processing, coating and shipping these plates.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (electricity, gas, oil, heat), production management (metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, mining, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs more than 1,500 persons worldwide.
