The latest in intralogistics with Hänel Lean-Lifts® and viad@t
Due to the constantly growing variety of articles, the capacity of the manually operated warehouse and of the automatic tray warehouse of TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK was almost exhausted. Michael Laub, production director of the successful medium-sized company: "What's more, in the future we will have no more support for the Warehouse Management Software of our old tray warehouse, which was built by another supplier. Together with the two specialists for efficient automatic storage systems – viastore systems and Hänel Büro- und Lagersysteme – we therefore installed a solution that saves precious space for us and allows for flexible reaction to future requirements."
In the first step, the specialists replaced the manually operated warehouse by three Hänel Lean-Lifts®. Because of the high total payload of each individual Lean-Lift® of up to 60 tons, they were put up in the basement story. The withdrawal points are on the ground floor. This means that the 14 meter high lifts use the entire height of both the basement and the warehouse hall proper. This reduced the total storage areas of around 450 square meters to the floor area of the lifts, i.e. 21 square meters, freeing up valuable space.
Future-oriented storage systems
viastore systems integrated the lifts into the warehouse management system viad@t newly introduced at TOX®. This expandable and flexible software is integrated into the SAP ERP using a standard interface. The "goods-to-man order-picking" at the Lean-Lift® has superseded the expensive "man-to-goods order-picking" used in the manually operated warehouse. This considerably reduces the order-picking errors. The new WMS permits, in conjunction with the high-speed Hänel Lean-Lifts® a high degree of transparency plus fast and reliable access to the articles.
Production director Michael Laub: "The modular lifts from Hänel and the Warehouse Management System from viastore systems can be expanded at any time. In addition, viastore systems has also integrated our tray warehouse into viad@t. With this comprehensive solution, we will be able to react flexibly to changing overall conditions. Furthermore, the dependability and durability of the components plus a genuine 24-hour service on more than 300 days a year were crucial criteria for us."
The height optimized storage strategy in the vertical lifts from Hänel ensures a streamlined and efficient use of the storage area at TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK. The TOX® employees can use the systems flexibly and process orders fast. The integration of viad@t into SAP ensures complete transparency.
The modular technology of viastore systems and Hänel Büro- und Lagersysteme also ensures faster goods delivery, improved inventory reliability, minimization of order-picking faults, efficient order-picking and hence shorter process times. viad@tWMS also permits future-capable management of the high-bay tray warehouse.
