Logistics service provider trans-o-flex entrusts viastore with implementing a multi-site WMS

The trans-o-flex Logistics Group specializes in fast transport solutions, logistic services and temperature-controlled transports for the pharmaceutical industry. To be well prepared for future challenges of the constantly growing business, the Weinheim-based company will be introducing a multi-site warehouse management system (WMS) that takes into account the company's individual requirements. In the future, over 12 million items are to be picked based on the new WMS. WMS specialist viastore systems, headquartered in Stuttgart, has been entrusted with implementing the project.

Belonging to the pan-European trans-o-flex Logistics Group and specializing in contract logistics, trans-o-flex Logistik-Service GmbH is currently operating at seven sites in Germany. Since the logistics services business is continuing its steady growth, more locations are to be added in the future. Therefore an important basis for the company‘s growth strategy is the introduction of a standardized WMS at all locations, which can be flexibly adjusted to the company’s specific requirements and processes. Here the viad@t warehouse management system from viastore systems, a leading intralogistics supplier, offers just the right solution. It will provide significant added value and is to replace the individual systems used at the various trans-o-flex Logistik-Service locations.

Initially, viastore will be implementing the new software in the trans-o-flex logistics center in Alzenau near Aschaffenburg, where a number of different storage areas and types of storage systems need to be integrated, including a wide range of different functions, from goods receipt, shipping and the forklift control system all the way through to returns management. Thereafter, the system will be gradually rolled out to other locations. It is envisaged that 250 users will be working with the system upon completion. The new WMS will be operated centrally from the data processing center at the Weinheim headquarters. viad@tWMS will be optimally connected to the conveyor system and the shipping system. Via a special interface, the intralogistics specialists from Stuttgart will additionally bind the system to the trans-o-flex converter that provides seamless communication with the host systems of the trans-o-flex customers. Another requirement is the long-time archiving of order and transaction data of the individual distribution centers.

Thanks to the use of a standardized WMS, which can be easily extended to future customers and locations, trans-o-flex Logistik-Service is now excellently prepared for the challenges of the future.
