European Home Improvement Retailer Weldom Builds Omni-channel Commerce Platform with Manhattan Associates

20.07.2016

Supply Chain Commerce Solutions provider Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced it is working with leading French home improvement brand Weldom as part of a multi-year journey in which the retailer is transforming its supply chain capabilities to support an omni-channel service model.

The goals of the transformation project are to build a commerce platform for fulfilling greater volumes of orders across an expanding number of sales channels and provide faster and better service for customers, while reducing working capital.

Having successfully leveraged Manhattan’s platform-based Distributed Order Management (DOM) and Supply Chain Convergence (SCC) solutions, as well as Manhattan’s Warehouse Management Solution (WMS) for the past several years, Weldom is currently upgrading to the latest version of the Manhattan WMS at core distribution centres (DCs) in France as it seeks to complete the building of a world class omni-channel order fulfilment capability. The Adeo Group subsidiary has also opted to implement Manhattan’s Labour Management and Slotting Optimisation solutions to boost flow-through velocity, productivity and efficiency across the DCs. All the solutions will operate on the Manhattan Platform, a single, holistic technology architecture that unites cross-functional business solutions, offers the power of shared components and provides a lower total cost of ownership.

Weldom has already made substantial progress in delivering on its project goals with the Manhattan solutions working together to provide a single, network-wide view of inventory and customer orders. They can orchestrate the fulfilment of orders in a way which maximises service levels for the customer and profit for the business. Weldom expects its forthcoming WMS upgrade and implementation of Manhattan’s Labour Management and Slotting Optimisation solutions will provide further efficiency gains within its DC operations as well as expedite the fulfilment of customer orders across its multiple sales channels.

“Whilst each solution gives us tremendously powerful capabilities, it is the combination of all the Manhattan solutions working seamlessly together, on a single integrated platform, that will help us achieve and hopefully exceed our business transformation goals,” says Angel Hernanz, vice president Supply Chain, at Weldom. “The sum is greater than the individual parts and we’re confident the Manhattan technology will allow us to continue innovating and creating differentiation for our customers for many years to come.”

Hernanz continued, “The order fulfilment optimisation capabilities of Manhattan’s technology have already contributed to an improved top line performance. With an accurate real-time view of available stock from across our network, we can commit to a more precise date and time for delivering every order as well as select an optimal inventory location which minimises order fulfilment costs for the business without compromising service quality for the customer. This available-to-promise capability helps earn customers’ loyalty. And the solutions have helped improved our bottom line also, through enabling greater productivity and streamlining processes across our DCs.”

“Managing the complexity of selling across multiple channels is one of the biggest challenges facing retailers today,” commented Remy Malchirand, managing director, France, at Manhattan Associates. “Our DOM, WMS and SCC solutions have already given Weldom a huge operational advantage in running their omni-channel business model. We look forward to working closely with Weldom in the coming months to enhance an already successful project.”
