Main focus: Simplification and automation • IGZ at the leading logistics trade fair LogiMAT 2020

04.03.2020

IGZ | THE SAP® ENGINEERS underline their status as the leading SAP EWM general contractor for intralogistics and move their significantly enlarged stand centrally to the trade fair activities related to automation technology: Hall 1, Booth B25.

»As a SAP EWM general contractor, we developholistic solution packages based on SAP standard softwareand implement them including the control and system technology,« says Christian Mattes, managing director of IGZ Automation GmbH. »This means that we assumecomplete functional responsibility for the digital 'brain' of an intralogistics system, from the deeply integrated SAP application to the PLC level, including any mechanical connection.« Recently realized projects by the IGZ Automation team demonstrates how this can look in detail. This includes new systems such as automatic high-bay warehouses (HRL) and small parts warehouses (AKL) including peripherals, expansion measures, the modernization and optimization of existing logistics and production facilities as well as PLC retrofit services. As current customer examples, IGZ presents productive solutions from mechanical engineering such as for Optima Packaging or Engel, the cosmetic industry such as for Laverana or electrical engineering such as for Wago.

At the same time, the focus is onlean logistics. »Automation and simplification are of fundamental importance in the age of Industry 4.0«, says Holger Häring, Head of Sales at IGZ. The IGZ Best PracticePick-by-Robot®serves this claim among other things. In Hall 1, trade visitors experience theLUKE1 picking robot, which is controlled via SAP EWM / MFS (SAP Extended Warehouse Management and SAP Material Flow System) and designed for machine learning, in action. This is equipped with visual sensors, is scalable and can be used flexibly in 24/7 operation. The special feature: LUKE1 can be retrofitted to existing, man-operated picking workstations, for example, to pick in the night shift or to reduce the order peaks during peak load.

Another prime example of simplified processes isPick-by-Motion®. Thegesture controlledpicking processbased on SAP EWM presented atbooth B47 in hall 8is increasingly favored by companies as an alternative to conventional, technologically complex and training-intensive system solutions. The IGZ stand in Hall 8, vis-à-vis SAP SE, is also designed as an info point that underlines the importance of SAP standard software as an enabler for Industry 4.0 and thelogistical platform economy of tomorrow. It shows how the interaction between SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) and SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) can cope with increasing complexity and reduce wasted resources across the entire supply chain. A SAP TM live demonstration is also on the agenda.

Interested parties also receive help with all questions aboutSAP S/4HANA, the latest-generation ERP system, as well as thediscontinuationofSAP WM(SAP Warehouse Management) andSAP LE-TRA(SAP Logistics Execution Transport). Options for themigrationto SAP EWM or SAP TM are shown, which are also included as embedded versions in SAP S/4HANA. The market leader for SAP warehousing, SAP transportation and SAP manufacturing also provides answers on the topic ofstock room managementin S/4HANA. The module offers users of SAP WM the possibility to use basic functionalities of the application even after the compatibility mode has expired beyond 2027.
