Air France Industries adopts RedPrairie Warehouse Management solution

19.01.2010

New spare parts warehouse at Orly first to be implemented

RedPrairie Holding Inc., a productivity solutions provider, is pleased to announce that Air France Industries has selected the RedPrairie Warehouse Management solution to be implemented in its spare parts warehouses.

The deployment is part of Air France’s Project GLOBE (Global Logistics Operations Bring Excellence) which aims to create a modern, global logistics network with KLM. The first site to be implemented with the system will be a new spare parts warehouse at Orly airport. This 4,300 sq m warehouse, dedicated to the storage of aeronautical spare parts and consumable materials, houses over 45,000 SKU’s. From February 2010 it will serve three aircraft maintenance hangars 24 hours 7 days a week.

During planning it was found that the IT tools traditionally used in Air France warehouses met neither performance expectations nor the demands of the latest management procedures. Equipping Air France with automated systems would also help to mitigate a reduction in storage space of around 40%.

"This WMS will address critical issues such as optimising space, inventory and warehouse processes while improving service quality and working conditions for employees," explains Pierre Bosse, Senior VP Components & Services at Air France Industries.

From a list of 11 vendors the RedPrairie solution was eventually selected after several rigorous workshops and reference site visits.

"RedPrairie has responded well to our problem. They were always available to listen and their solution is able to meet our business needs while remaining as close as possible to the standard software," explains Pierre Bosse.

Martin Hiscox, Vice Chairman of the Board, Managing Director and President International, RedPrairie said, "One of RedPrairie’s strengths is our ability to respond to large-scale projects for international companies so we are delighted to help Air France Industries in its pursuit of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction."
