Initial France Gains Visibility across its Supply Chain with Manhattan Ass.


Manhattan WMS complements Initial's ERP system to provide complete inventory visibility and tracking capabilities

Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced that Initial France, the French subsidiary of Initial, one of the world's leading offices and facilities services organisations, has successfully implemented Manhattan's Warehouse Management Solution (WMS) at its central distribution center (DC) in Gravigny, near Evreux, in France. With the help of Manhattan's Enterprise Integration Services (EIS) tool, Initial has also successfully integrated the WMS with its existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, enabling Initial to provide its service centers throughout France with reliable and accurate supply chain and enterprise level data for the first time.

The 43,000 square foot DC at Gravigny supports initial's textile and washroom businesses in France, operating as a radial hub for dispatching orders to Initial's 60 service centers across the country that in turn forward goods to customers for final delivery. Initial's existing ERP system lacked the necessary functionality to be able to effectively manage inventory within the DC or to provide the company with the tracking and visibility capabilities it needed to keep its service centers reliably informed on the position of goods across the supply chain. It therefore sought a solution that was specifically designed to manage and optimize supply chain processes.

"With the strong growth the business had been experiencing and to maintain this momentum going forwards, we needed clear and comprehensive visibility on all inventory flows - specifically the capacity to track goods in real time, all the time - so that our 60 service centers could be constantly updated on the status of orders up and down the supply chain," underlines Laurent Moulay, Textile Purchasing & Logistics director at Initial France. "In addition, we needed an advanced WMS that would be capable of feeding our ERP system with timely and accurate information on inventory movements so that our service centers had the information they needed in relation to procurement, order preparation and delivery activities. Manhattan Associates' WMS brings us the advanced DC inventory management capabilities we sought however its ability to work seamlessly with our ERP system has delivered an overall solution that provides even greater value than the sum of its parts."
