Wincanton Completes First Deployments of Manhattan Ass. Supply Chain Platform

18.05.2010

Leading logistics services provider completes first implementations of Manhattan's WMS and Supply Chain Intelligence solutions

Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced that Wincanton has successfully completed the roll-out of Manhattan's Warehouse Management Solution (WMS) and Supply Chain Intelligence (SCI) solutions for its clients Isover and Supra. These two implementations are the first that Wincanton has completed in France and follow the company's decision in 2008 to select Manhattan Associates' solutions to support its entire European logistics infrastructure.

Wincanton offers tailored logistics solutions that are adapted to the needs of its clients, proposing to operate distribution centers (DCs) owned by its clients or to supply a complete service operated in its own DCs. By embarking on a wide and ambitious plan to standardize its IT infrastructure right across Europe, Wincanton is both responding to and anticipating the evolving needs of its clients. These companies are operating in a variety of countries and communicating in a growing number of languages, while increasingly seeking consistency in the way they interact with their logistics services provider.

The first implementation of Manhattan's solutions by Wincanton in France was initiated at Isover, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain that specialises in insulation materials. Manhattan's WMS and SCI solutions are now successfully installed at a DC in Chemillé (Western France) that is owned by Saint-Gobain and operated by Wincanton. The site includes an outdoor storage area of 540,000 square feet and an indoor facility of 65,000 square feet, allowing Wincanton to manage a very high volume but relatively narrow range of products on behalf of Isover. As part of this implementation project, Manhattan's supply chain solutions were integrated with Isover's SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The Chemillé DC, which was initially focused on serving a nearby Saint-Gobain production facility as well as external suppliers, now serves three production facilities, one of which is located on the Chemillé site. Wincanton progressively transitioned the three inbound flows onto the Manhattan Associates solutions and completed this element a month after the outbound flows went live.

Wincanton subsequently embarked on a second project to deploy Manhattan's WMS and SCI solutions at French client Supra. The company, founded in 1878 and operating in 30 countries, specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of fireplaces and air treatment systems. Wincanton manages Supra's logistics operations at its 160,000 square foot DC in Dambach (Eastern France). Following the successful implementation of Manhattan' solutions, Supra is benefitting from improved inventory management and order fulfilment capabilities.

"We have been very pleased with these first deployments of Manhattan Associates' solutions, and this is a great testament to the commitment of both the Manhattan and Wincanton teams," commented Egbert Maagd, General Manager Western Europe, Wincanton. "We have been able to use the Manhattan solutions to support our clients' needs only four to six months after the respective initiations of each project. The new systems bring to Wincanton and its clients valuable improvements in terms of supply chain process management and operational efficiency. Additionally, Manhattan Associates' Supply Chain Intelligence solution allows us to rely on powerful reporting and analytical tools that enable us to ensure a continuous improvement of our clients' supply chain operations. We continue to collaborate closely with Manhattan's team in France in order to reach the ambitious objectives we set ourselves."

Steve Smith, senior vice president of Manhattan Associates EMEA, commented, "Manhattan and Wincanton are now working together in a number of countries across Europe and we're very pleased with the progress we're making as a joint team. The deployments in France have been conducted in an exemplary fashion and I'm delighted to see Wincanton and its customers already benefitting from our solutions in a number of different ways. We look forward to building on this success throughout the rest of Europe over the coming months and years."
