Aberle builds European Logistics Centre of Böllhoff Group

06.06.2018

With a new European Logistics Centre located in Oelsnitz/Vogtland in Saxony Böllhoff, one of the world's leading experts for connector elements and assembly components, embarks on further expansion.

Aberle GmbH, system integrator in the Logistics Systems Business Area of international technology group Körber, has been awarded the contract for realization of the project.

The scope of services of the system integrator for highly complex automation projects under the roof of Körber Logistics is based on the system planning of Metroplan from Hamburg. Beneath pallet and tote conveyor systems it especially includes the construction of an automated high bay warehouse and an automated miniload for more than 100.000 storable articles of Böllhoff Group.

In the 4-aisle high bay warehouse approximately 24.000 pallet storing positions will be available in the future. The wall and roof cladding is also scope of delivery of Aberle GmbH. The 7-aisle miniload has a storing capacity of 228.000 boxes. The design for optimally coordinated material flows inside the system will be adjusted to the required key performance indicators by Aberle in a simulation project. For efficient incoming goods checking, picking and finalizing the system integrator installs special working stations, which are linked to the corresponding conveyor system according to the actual requirements.

Other equipment components Aberle integrates are scissor lift tables, scales as well as carton compactors, stationary pallet wrappers, carton vacuum lifters and strappers. Picking and resource recycling processes are supplied with resource bins, ECOSIT bin racks and carton racks.

For controlling the conveyor system hardware Aberle implements a powerful material flow control system. System and process visualization will be supplied by the Process Management System PMS-V by Aberle. The Warehousing-IT for the new Böllhoff Logistics Center will be the Warehouse Management System (WMS) inconsoWMS X. Inconso, also belonging to Körber Logistics and thus affiliated company to Aberle, was separately contracted by Böllhoff-Group to customize and implement their WMS with a modular concept at the same time as Aberle.

Final completion of the new Logistics Center is planned for autumn 2019. In the first stage of construction approximately 100 jobs shall be created in the next few years. With more than ten hectares the premises offer enough remaining room for future growth.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this new construction project will take place in Oelsnitz on June 16th, 2018.
