Paper reduced transports thanks to inconso AG and TIA innovations GmbH

24.11.2010

SAP based Customs System is now EMCS 1.0 certified

The seal of approval EMCS 1.0 has been given to the customs system that TIA innovations GmbH and inconso AG have together successfully brought to the market. From January 1, 2011 European-wide, the current paper supported processes for transporting excisable goods will be replaced with an electronic process using e-VD (electronic Management Document). The basis for the changeover is the introduction of EMCS (Excise Movement and Control System), an EDV supported transport and control system for excisable goods.

For more than two years, TIA innovations GmbH from Böbingen a.d. Rems has successfully provided a version of the AES participation software to the market. In conjunction with the leading supplier of consulting and software solutions for logistics in Germany, inconso, this solution was also offered as an SAP integrated solution. This system allows the user to complete the entire communication with the customs authorities – from the export registration and the export documents through to the confirmation of the export by the authorities – completely in SAP. The system can be directly installed by the user or used via the data processing center of TIA.

EMCS means a simplification of the processes and a reduced paper management through an efficient use of modern information technology. The introduction of EMCS was passed in 2003 by the European parliament. EMCS was realized in the scope of an EU project where all the member states developed their own IT applications and exchange process related data via an interface with the European Commission.

During the transition time until December 31, 2010, the current paper supported process remains in use. Germany has begun its EMCS operations on April 1, 2010. Since then, an EMCS process that was opened (electronically) in another member state will also end by a German receiver in EMCS. On a voluntary basis, companies can already open and close an inner-Germany transport process under deferral of tax payment.

The cooperation between TIA as a supplier of AES and EMCS certified software and inconso with its SAP consulting and implementation competences offers SAP users an attractive, streamlined alternative to the powerful SAP GTS. TIA has over 20 years of experience in the area of foreign trade and inconso is an SAP SCM Partner and specializes in logistics solutions from orders in the warehouse to the transportation of goods.
