Jungheinrich at CeMAT 2011

16.02.2011

Jungheinrich is showcasing numerous new products, features and refinements involving internal material flows at CeMAT 2011, the world’s leading intralogistics exhibition.

Internal materials flow is the main focus of Jungheinrich’s appearance at CeMAT 2011 — from 2 to 6 May 2011 in Hanover, Germany. Under the giant EXPO canopy (stand number P33/34 as well as on the open-air site) the Hamburg-based company will be demonstrating innovative solutions along the intralogistics process chain to trade visitors — from incoming goods/lorry unloading to distribution/lorry loading.

World first: Jungheinrich wide-aisle warehouse navigation

At CeMAT in Hannover Jungheinrich will be the first company in the world to offer a warehouse navigation system that works in wide aisles and consequently also in the pre-zone. “This translates into more efficient and safer operations outside narrow aisles,” says Dr Helmut Limberg, Jungheinrich Management Board Member with responsibility for Sales and Marketing. “Jungheinrich successfully launched the narrow aisle navigation system two years ago and can demonstrate up to 25-percent higher throughput rates in actual operations.”

Navigating in wide aisles differs fundamentally from narrow aisle warehouse navigation. Whereas in the narrow aisle warehouse, the exact positioning of the truck is tracked via RFID and transponders buried in the warehouse floor, the wide-aisle system employs a new proprietary tracking system. “This is because the trucks are not guided in wide aisles as they are in narrow aisles, but are rather freely manoeuvrable,” explains Limberg.

The Hamburg-based company is also officially premiering its own driverless transport system — the Auto Pallet Mover (APM). This innovative Jungheinrich truck solution has been successfully put through its paces in a range of field trials and is already in operation at a number of facilities. The APM is a truck that moves around the warehouse independently, without a driver. The Jungheinrich APM is ideally suited for handling repetitive transport tasks, for instance, from incoming goods or from production to a payload transfer station in the racks.

APMs can be operated as a stand-alone solution or integrated and operated in the warehouse management system. The APMs are based on series-produced, reliable, tried-and-tested Jungheinrich trucks. In a nutshell, apart from high availability, the flexible and easy customisation and the option of fitting a wide-range of attachments are the major advantages of this transport solution. Like series-production trucks, the APMs are integrated into Jungheinrich’s world-wide service, characterised by its rapid response times.

Efficient warehouse truck fleet management

Jungheinrich is unveiling its proprietary fleet management system at the world’s leading fair for intralogistics in early May. Under the name ISM Online, the program manages, analyses and optimises truck fleets irrespective of their size and complexity. With the development of this tool, Jungheinrich not only gives operators the means for increased transparency and safety in their truck fleets, but also the capability of operating their fleets more efficiently at a number of different sites — even internationally.

The Jungheinrich fleet management system is a combination of a variety of software packages, each designed to handle certain operator needs. Access to the relevant data is gained through the Jungheinrich Management portal in a secure zone on the internet. This makes it possible to access information from virtually anywhere in the world.

Jungheinrich’s completely redesigned platform for its new pedestrian stacker

One of the new products Jungheinrich is introducing at CeMAT is the ERC 212/214/216 series electric pedestrian stacker, which is being launched on the market during the run-up to the fair. This truck is a combination of manoeuvrable pedestrian stacker and fast, comfortable stand-on truck. The platform for this model has been completely redesigned.

Also shortly before the opening of CeMAT 2011 Jungheinrich is launching a wide-aisle electric pedestrian straddle stacker on the market. The Series 1 EJC B was specially designed for the flexible handling of special payloads. The widened support arms and forged forks that can be lowered down to the floor allow the truck to go underneath the load for pick-up. Perimeter board pallets can therefore be picked up crossways, like a counter-balanced stacker.

New tow tractor with super-elastic tyres

This year Jungheinrich is expanding its tow tractor portfolio. The trade audience at CeMAT will see the premier of Jungheinrich’s new tow tractor with super-elastic drive wheel. The EZS C40 series tractor is based on the EZS 350 XL, launched at CeMAT 2005. Apart from super-elastic tyres and the associated adaptation of the drive chamber, a key difference compared with the basic tractor involves the increased ground clearance to one hundred millimetres. This means the tractor can easily traverse larger floor irregularities, such as those occurring between halls.

Furthermore, Jungheinrich is going to unveil to a world audience a range of entirely newly developed trucks at CeMAT 2011. These include the Series 2 reach trucks, additional tiller-operated stackers and the 5s Series DFG/TFG trucks — diesel and LPG powered, respectively — featuring hydrostatic drive. The latter rounds off the top of the line of Jungheinrich hydrostatic IC engine-powered trucks launched on the market at the beginning of 2008. Trade visitors will be offered a preview of the new truck at the show.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a service provider with manufacturing operations as well as an intralogistics solution provider, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and consulting. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
