SOLVO completes automation of EUROPLAST Solnechnogorskiy Plant

31.08.2012

SOLVO has completed the automation of the EUROPLAST Solnechnogorskiy Plant with the implementation of Solvo.WMS.

The EUROPLAST group is an industry leader in the production of PET-preforms and polymer caps in Russia and the CIS countries. The EUROPLAST Solnechnogorskiy Plant is the enterprise group’s flagship production facility and is one of the largest producers of PET-packaging in Russia. All operations are performed with highly precise equipment of such renowned companies as NETSTAL, HUSKY, DEMAG, SACMI etc. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Baltika, Unimilk, Heineken and many others companies chose the quality of EUROPLAST products and have been among their most faithful clients for many years. EUROPLAST places great effort on improving and optimizing its production processes and keeps a close eye on the latest trends in technology, manufacturing process management, personnel training etc. It is for this exact reason that the company’s management team decided to introduce the Solvo.WMS system for its “EUROPLAST” Solnechnogorskiy Plant.

A well planned and organized warehouse is one of the main factors that enable to lower expenses, ensure quality and deliver goods right on time. And a SOLVO-operated warehouse is precisely that. The warehouse, which is equipped with gravitation and conventional racks, stores various types of plastic caps as well as PET-preforms. Finished products arrive at the warehouse in cartons. The carton “rides along” the conveyor to the gravitation racks while the stacker crane places it into the required location. In the racks, cartons are stored in pairs, with two cartons in each pair that are placed one on top of the other. An important aspect in optimizing a plant’s proprietary logistics scheme is that each carton and pallet is labeled with a unique number (SSC-code). This code makes it possible to accurately determine all of the goods item’s production parameters: line number, production date, work-shift number as well as all previous operations performed with the given item. An order is created in two steps: first the goods item, with the help of a narrow-aisle stacker truck, is moved from the storage zone to the picking area, after which sorting for the actual order takes place. Assembled orders are moved to a special dock, where they will be loaded onto trucks. The system can also recommend a dock to a truck depending on the location of the given order’s load items. Solvo.WMS also makes it possible to set up quarantine for products at any location of the technological chain, including gravitation racks. Based on performance estimates of the EUROPLAST Solnechnogorskiy Plant, the order assembly rate has increased by 15% due to the implementation of Solvo.WMS while accuracy has improved by 30%. The frequency of returns after the system has been launched into operation has been reduced by 1.5 times.

“After the implementation of Solvo.WMS, the process of inventory control, which we perform daily, has been elevated to a higher level. Today, when the system has been 100% implemented, we can confidently say that the workflow at our warehouse has become significantly more efficient – products are received, stored and shipped based on an optimal layout; ABC-analysis and FIFO are performed, warehouse space is effectively utilized, while the number of product tracking errors have been reduced and empty lift truck runs have been completely eliminated. Therefore, there can be absolutely no doubt about the economic value of the system” – said the management of the EUROPLAST Solnechnogorskiy Plant.
