Jungheinrich Opens New Plant for Warehouse and System Trucks

27.11.2013

Jungheinrich invested a total of 40 million euros in its new production plant in Degernpoint, Germany – putting the company in a position to extend its market position and enjoy sustainable growth.

November 27th was the official opening date for the new Jungheinrich production plant for warehouse and system trucks in the industrial estate of Degernpoint – in direct proximity to the company’s core plant in Moosburg in the south of Germany. Exclusive production of these stackers commenced in September at the new state of the art facility. With a construction time of approximately 16 months, the new plant had become necessary after the Moosburg core plant had reached the limits of further physical expansion.

Jungheinrich invested a total of 40 million euros in its new production facility. The production area measures over 23,000 square metres of floor space, with capacity to produce more than 3,000 warehouse and system trucks annually. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Jungheinrich Moosburg GmbH and Member of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG, commented that “the new plant in Degernpoint is a significant investment for Jungheinrich and its Moosburg location. It allows us to pursue sustainable growth, expand our market position and safeguard jobs in the region.” Currently some 300 staff members are employed at the Degernpoint facility.

The trucks produced at the new location are used by clients worldwide. Jungheinrich is the market leader for warehouse and system trucks within Europe. And according to Rosenbach the company is anticipating increased demand in this segment: “We are anticipating an annual market growth of up to 15 percent, above all in the growth markets of Asia, Eastern Europe, the Near East and South America,” he stated, noting that Jungheinrich had considerably expanded its sales operations in those regions over the past few months.

Jungheinrich counterbalanced trucks will continue to be produced at its core plant in Moosburg, with optimised production processes and increased manufacturing capacity for battery-powered and IC engine counterbalanced trucks already in the planning.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
