EPG at LogiMAT 2020 - Supply chain digitization: Smart solutions for integrated process control

06.12.2019

At LogiMAT 2020, EPG is focusing on the digitization and automation of logistic processes. The logistics experts will present LFS.suburban, which is the first solution to provide central, comprehensive orchestration of different movements with existing systems in the warehouse, such as automated guided vehicles, forklifts and material handling technology.

LFS.suburban is a warehouse map, which is a digital twin of the warehouse, created using a 3D laser scanner to map all the details of the warehouse. LFS.wfm, the solution for digital workforce planning, and LFS.cnb for automated contract and billing management, see EPG expanding its LFS Supply Chain Execution System with two more important software modules. In Hall 8 at Stand A70, trade visitors will be met with live demonstrations and exciting best practices in EPG's Digital Warehouse Theater.

LFS.suburban rounds off EPG's overall LFS system, as a comprehensive, central solution for digital transport planning and control. The new tool delivers manufacturer-independent orchestration of transport jobs in the warehouse. High-level advanced planning is run on the basis of existing orders and the available systems. The actual warehouse equipment in use is not important, as the solution coordinates and controls automated guided vehicles, forklifts and static material handling technology in a similar way to a route planning system, significantly reducing the complexity of intralogistics transport management. It also increases the efficiency of order processing, as all conditions in the warehouse are taken into account in planning. LFS.suburban uses a digital warehouse map, which is a virtual twin of the warehouse and contains a digital record of all information, such as routes, warehouse technology and restrictions. It is created with a 3D laser scanner, which also records the logistics areas, such as buffer locations and shelving systems in the warehouse.

Digital workforce and contract management

Efficient resource planning is another important component of the logistics supply chain. LFS.wfm (Workforce Management System) complements EPG's SES with dynamic workforce planning. LFS.wfm, for example, handles workforce planning, whilst taking into account expected order quantities. It also provides process- and time-based monitoring of order progress, including resource distribution. Increased transparency over capacity utilization and real-time monitoring make it easy to identify potential for resource optimization. LFS.cnb digitizes billing and contract management for all relevant work and process steps. The range of services spans contract management, activity recording and automated billing. EPG has thereby simplified one of the most complex tasks within logistics management.
