inconsoWMS X will manage a new logistics center of Apollo Optik

Apollo Optik, one of the leading eyewear chains in Europe, supplies its over 650 stores in Germany from a newly constructed logistics center in Schwabach near Nürnberg, Germany. inconso AG received the order for implementing a warehouse management and control system. For this purpose, inconsoWMS X is used. The facility consists of a pallet warehouse for Euro pallets as well as a quality decision warehouse, which is separated into block and shelf areas. Two separate modular shelf areas offer space for ca. 50,000 cartons in the picking and reservation zones.

In a single phase, a warehouse management and control system will be implemented. After a multi-step selection process, the decision was made to use inconsoWMS X from inconso AG, who has already begun with the realization. With a close-knit interfacing with the ERP system Navision, the system covers all the processes in the warehouse.

Starting with the advance notices of incoming deliveries, a row of special processes such as handling of backordered articles, the planning of replenishments directly out of the goods receipt or the returns handling are controlled in the goods receiving area. Different store-in and addition storage strategies are considered depending upon if a pallet warehouse or modular shelf is being stored into. The core for the reliable delivery of the stores is the order picking. This is where each order is picked in single or two-step processes. For the single step process, orders are processes. For the two-step processes, complete batches in the picker’s lists are separated for each picking zone. After that, several picker lists can be consolidated to picker round trips for a zone using multi-order and multi-batch picking processes. For the multi-order picking, a put-to-light system is used.
