New to build Holland hub for DPD equipped with latest CROSSORTER 1500

28.10.2010

After an intensive cooperation with DPD Netherlands, Vanderlande Industries has won the order for a new to build hub. The so called Holland Hub will be located in Veenendaal (the Netherlands) and will be operational in May 2011.

The reason for DPD to build a new hub is their continuous growth and increased capacity needs. This new system will support DPD in their needs now and in the future and in their service towards their customers.

The proposed CROSSORTER 1500 solution brings many advantages for DPD. The possibility to sort both for the Business-to- Business market as the Business-to-Consumer market, the scalability in capacity and high throughput potential and flexibility in building space are good examples. Another noticeable aspect is the proposed phasing and expansion possibility, which is in line with DPD’s business strategy.

“Our passion for performance and quality on the one hand and the strong desire to provide optimal cost efficiency for our customers on the other hand, makes the sorting process crucial in the success of our depots,” says Michael van Ooijen, CEO of DPD in the Netherlands.

The challenge for Vanderlande industries regarding the sorter belt requirements was evident: combine state-of-the-art technology with proven performance and energy efficiency. “Our success is founded on doing things right,” Van Ooijen continues. “The Holland Hub enables us to even up this performance level, whilst at the same time staying conscious of minimalising environmental impact. With the CROSSORTER we integrate maximum flexibility, conveyability and reliability, while also maintaining our cost effectiveness and thinking green.”

Next to the CROSSORTER 1500 the system also consists of 10 infeeds and 30 outputs with the possibility to expand to 20 infeeds and 75 outputs. DPD has chosen the Vanderlande-Dinamic extendibles and non-conveyable line to be implemented as well.
