Jungheinrich: New Generation of Pedestrian Stackers Features Support Arm Lift

01.12.2010

At the beginning of 2011 a new generation of battery-powered stackers with support arm lift will replace the existing truck series.

Thanks to a new payload-capacity concept, these Jungheinrich stackers can be deployed with substantially more flexibility than before.

At the beginning of 2011 Jungheinrich will launch a new stacker generation — the EJC 212z/214z/216z range of battery-powered pedestrian stackers with support arm lift. The support arm lift is what makes these trucks so special, since it allows the operator to effortlessly cope with conventional warehouse obstacles like ramps, metal bridging tracks and loading ramps—and of course the usual uneven floors.

A new payload capacity concept was also developed and implemented for the new generation of stackers: In contrast to previous generations, which were designed for payload capacities of up to 1,400 (EJC 214z) and 1,600 (EJC 216z) kilogrammes, the new series offers an additional truck version (EJC 212z) with a payload capacity of “only” 1,200 kilogrammes. According to Stefan Hirt, Head of Pedestrian Truck Product Management at Jungheinrich, this new option results in “enhanced flexibility and more numerous application opportunities for this generation of trucks.”

Economical consumption and very high handling turnover rates

These new pedestrian trucks from Jungheinrich are especially deployable for stacking and retrieving. “This is where these stackers are real pros,” comments Hirt. Thanks to the environmentally-friendly, maintenance-free Jungheinrich three-phase AC technology, the EJC is not only economical to operate, but also high-performing. Says Hirt: “With lifting heights of substantially more than five metres, high residual lifting capacities, fast acceleration and above-average operating times, these trucks guarantee extremely high handling turnover rates.” A special option for the stacker series allows the operator to transport two pallets at a time. “This puts the user in a position to essentially double handling turnover rates,” explains Hirt.

The new EJC from Jungheinrich is simple and completely ergonomic to operate. The operator can lift the payload gently and quietly at the push of a button. “He has everything ‘under control’, in the truest sense of the word,” reports Hirt, adding that this included the jerk-free depositing of sensitive goods, the fast lifting and lowering of pallets and precise approaches to the desired rack position.

The ease of operation offered by the standard version of this new Jungheinrich stacker can be further enhanced by an optional electric steering feature which allows for virtually effortless steering. In particularly narrow spaces, for example manoeuvring on lorry loading surfaces, the operator can put the tiller in the upright position and use the crawl speed button for particularly precise and sensitive handling.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a service provider with manufacturing operations as well as an intralogistics solution provider, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and consulting. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
