Description

Task description

The Estonian pharmaceutical wholesaler Magnum opened the most state-of-the-art pharmaceutical warehouse from Vladivostok to Vienna and celebrated with 300 invited guests in politics and business.

The initiation of the system in Tallinn was carried out virtually with a multimedia show by the Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Magnum CEO, Leon Jankelevitch. The enthusiastic guests enjoyed a guided tour of the warehouse
with expert comments on the warehouse processes and the KNAPP technology. The specially mounted spotlights on the stacker crane system provided impressive lighting effects, particularly on the platform, which allowed a scenic view over the entire system.

The technical solution shines with the interplay between a high-bay racking system, its two stacker cranes and 35,000
storage locations and an OSR32 system, guided by the warehouse management system KiSoft WMS. The automatic
interchange of goods between the stacker crane system and the OSR ensures that products are stored in the ideal location and
avoids time-consuming manual relocation.
In addition the Estonian pharmaceutical market has a few characteristics which KNAPP also displays in the WMS: a
certain amount of products is provided with aditional Estonian package inserts on behalf of the national health authority.
KNAPP considers lot tracking throughout the warehouse as well as separate storage of various product groups and management of consignment products. Picking is conducted via handheld terminals from flow racks which are automatically
refilled by the stacker crane system. The target containers for the pharmacies are transported to the two work stations of
the OSR32 where products are supplied from four rack lines and more than 8,000 storage locations. After orders are
completed and pass the final check station, containers are automatically provided with an invoice, lidded, strapped, addressed and sorted according to route on 18 ramps in the dispatch area.
