Task description

A new warehouse of pallet and box storage was built and put into operation in order to increase the efficiency of the company, quicker and more precise supplying the whole distribution system of “Falbi” by the necessary goods, the total area of the warehouse is about 10000 square metres.
The specificity of the warehouse – is a large range of products which includes the group of medicines, pharmaceuticals and all the related products which require various storage conditions and the strict serial accounting. Receiving, put-away and shipment of the goods requires quicker and high-quality processing.

The management authority of “Falbi” analyzed a number of automation systems and decided in favor of Solvo.WMS. The widespread functionality, high adaptability to the characteristics of the warehouse, successful operation in a few pharmaceutical facilities in Russia and Ukraine – arguments which had an influence on selection of the system.

The modern technological equipment of the company SSI Schafer such as carrousels, conveyors, sorting lines was installed in the warehouse. One of the important tasks set for the WMS system was interaction with the software Convey (Schafer SSI) to manage this equipment. The project may be called unique by the complex of applied technologies.
 

It was necessary to prepare and carry out the movement from the old warehouse, to train the staff, to keep the balance with the ERP-system of the company and to lead the operation of the warehouse complex to the working rhythm.

Due to the strict statement of the task, competent organization of the order and work schedule, and also timely reaction to appearing force-majeure circumstances, the start-up has launched during the shortest terms.

All the preparatory measures were performed in time, it took the company less than 2 weeks from the beginning of moving to real shipments, and yet a week later the warehouse operated in the normal working rhythm.

 When working with the conveyor line it is very important to launch the competent distribution of loading according to zones of selection. This distribution is based on the products turnover calculated according to statistics. The system tracks timely replenishment of gravitation cells which deliver the product to the picking line on the basis of data about required number of reserves. All that reduces the terms of order assembly since the moment of receipt. These actions don’t require recontrol as related to the system in a real-time mode radio terminals are used for confirmation of every action of the operator. Wi-Fi radio network was deployed for terminals operation on the territory of complex.

The organization of works in the area of dispatch has been thought over. Every route of delivery is connected with its own output of the conveyor picking line, further inside the routes loads are more particularly grouped by points of delivery as if "pulling up" each one to its related counterpart. That simplifies the loading process significantly.
Due to the system of management time for training a new staff has been significantly reduced since all the information on the nomenclature, characteristics and locations of products storage is available in the database.

Summing up the project, the chief of the Software Department of the company “Falbi” – Eugene Dobrovolskiy, noted the following: “Using the system made the warehouse operation more flexible and clear and that allowed to look at other business processes of the company in a new light. Thus for example work of some subdivisions of the company has been reorganized. It is co-operative work of the Procurement and Service Departments, Sales and Orders Processing Departments, and also organization of work in the dispatch. The warehouse has started to operate in one shift instead of two which significantly reduces the technological expenses”.
