Description

Task description

The family-owned enterprise of B.Braun produces and sells world-wide medicine and hospital products such as singleuse syringes, hollow bore needles, surgical suture material, and electrolyte solutions. With 38,132 employees, sales of 3.79 billion Euro were generated in 2008. Represented in more than 50 countries, B.Braun is the market leader in the field of infusions whereby the high degree of automation is a significant success factor at the Melsungen location. From SAP to machine: IT
systems control the logistics and production processes continuously.

Unitechnik received the order for the replacement of the existing material flow computer for the LIFE 1 Leading Infusion Factory Europe) production. In a second step the production plant system is to be extended. LIFE Nutrition will go into operation in 2010. In addition to the link to the new material flow
computer, Unitechnik is supplying the pallet conveying system and the pallet racking.

Due to that, significant challenges for Unitechnik are represented by:

  • Very stringent quality, qualification and validation requirements in the pharmaceutical environment at B.Braun (GMP)
  • Changing over of the material flow computer without interrupting normal operations since production is carried out „around the clock“
  • Diverse interfaces to host/subordinated systems such as the production control system, automated guided vehicle systems and standard pallet conveying systems
