Complex psb intralogistics technology for the new manufacturing plant

10.06.2010

The intralogistics technology, in the new manufacturing plant for large industrial drives of SEW-EURODRIVE in Bruchsal, Germany, was designed and implemented by psb.

With the complex system, goods for the supply of the ultramodern production facility are collected and stored. The psb installation consists of a fully-automated warehouse for pallets, a fully-automated warehouse for trays (both warehouses with several aisles), extensive conveyor technology for pallets and trays, several shuttle cars, plus selektron MFC for controlling the flow of materials, with an interface to the system.

During the system implementation, a major focus was put on ergonomic aspects of all the work processes. So, for example, a very low construction height of the pallet achieved.

Under the motto »we provide movement«, SEW-EURODRIVE is one of the most innovative market leaders with respect to controlled movement. And there will also be a high degree of movement in the new plant: A large variety of materials will flow on approx. 730 m of widely ramified pallet conveyor technology, and approx. 370 m of tray conveyors. In total five shuttle cars are utilized, some of them equipped with various load handling devices, providing goods to the docking stations, the production area, and/or the order picking stations.

And of course, the latest generation of »non-contact« energy transfer and »energy recovery systems« are employed in the drive segment of the AS/RS systems and shuttle cars.

The comprehensive psb selektron SCADA software system visualizes the largescale plant, thus allowing for displaying all the operating stages in depth. This system even provides access to wiring diagrams, or article parameters of each individual electronic component, thus enabling SEW staff to have all information displayed within a few seconds »just by one click«.

In this project, again, psb was highly valued with its single supplier philosophy.
