Solvo.WMS Deployment Project Completed for JelDorExpeditsia

27.01.2011

Solvo Ltd. announced that a Solvo.WMS deployment project has been finished for JelDorExpeditsia, the largest Russian transportation and forwarding company providing services of railroad and motor transportation and freight forwarding within Russia.

The automation project was targeted at an A-class multifunctional freight terminal located in Novosibirsk, Russia. With an operating area of 22900 sq. m allowing to accommodate up to 8,300 pallets, the terminal is equipped with its own motor and railroad fleet and a unique technology to move loads within the terminal using special conveyor equipment.

With this project, SOLVO had an opportunity to bring to the market a new industry solution aimed at automating freight terminals. The Solvo.WMS system is capable of automating all technology processes from accepting to shipping goods.

Unlike conventional warehouses, the technology process used by JelDorExpeditsia does not imply the registration of individual goods but a large number of parameters, such as dimensions, weight, fragility, special storage conditions, etc., pertaining to batch cargoes. Special attention is given to goods acceptance procedures based on various kinds of freight papers.

A distinguishing feature of this Solvo.WMS deployment project was the need for the automation and registration of additional specific operations, such as goods lathing, weight control, bag packaging, etc.

Moreover, Solvo.WMS was integrated with a Mostoles Industrial chain conveyor used to make most of goods movements within the warehouse. The Solvo.WMS system manages the conveyor so that it can automatically move loaded fork lifts to any destination within the warehouse. To control the movements of fork lifts, the RFID technology is used.

SOLVO engineers developed a dedicated intersystem interface to integrate Solvo.WMS with a proprietary ERP system that is used by JelDorExpeditsia to support its specific documentation management processes.
The system makes it possible to process goods by a standard procedure. In addition, the integration between Solvo.WMS and the customer's ERP system named 1C was implemented.

Despite the large volume of development work required to take into account the specific features of JelDorExpeditsia's business, SOLVO's engineers successfully managed to implement the processes requested by the customer in Solvo.WMS. In November 2010, the warehouse terminal was finally put into commercial operation.
