Infor Sponsors Warehouse Management System Licenses for Nanyang Polytechnic’s Supply Chain Management Centre

Infor today announced that it will sponsor Infor SCM Warehouse Management Enterprise Edition licenses through the signing of a Collaboration Agreement with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP). Infor's sponsorship, valued at SGD$210,000, will support NYP's establishment of a Supply Chain Management Centre and Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP) for its Diploma in Business Management (Supply Chain Management (SCM) option). Consistent with Infor's educational outreach programme, this sponsorship is aimed at addressing the needs of the Supply Chain industry and is the first of its kind among Nanyang Polytechnic's TEP programmes. This new TEP programme will be offered to students in the new Academic Year beginning April 2009.

As part of the School of Business Management's and School of Information Technology's programmes, SCM Warehouse Management will be integrated into the schools' curriculum, which includes the TEP, to simulate an actual Supply Chain (SC) organization. This will allow students to practice and perform daily activities in a typical SC organization. This hands-on exposure to a warehouse management solution (WMS) solution will also prepare students to manage exceptions or non-routine activities that might occur in a SC organization. More importantly, with the WMS solution, lecturers will be able to provide students with practical examples to enhance the concepts learnt during lectures.

"With the support of Infor, NYP will be able to continue to provide students with the tools they need as a foundation for success in the Supply Chain industry during the formative years of their polytechnic education," said Chris Lim, Deputy Director (Programmes) at NYP's School of Business Management. "The sponsorship of Infor SCM Warehouse Management will enrich NYP's Diploma in Business Management (Supply Chain Management Option) for our students."

"We believe that globally competitive companies will need responsive business teams that can manage workflows, resources and schedules for ever-changing events and situations. For a regional hub like Singapore, this means we need to take the responsibility to invest in the future of this nation and that means reaching out to students, lecturers and schools to make SCM an exciting career, " said Lawrence Chan, President, Asia Pacific of Infor. "We also know that to excel you need to acquire and implement the best software tools from the best software partner, people that know your business and speak your language. As such, we are honored to partner with Nanyang Polytechnic in this important mission."

Infor SCM Warehouse Management Enterprise Edition is an advanced solution for optimizing fulfillment and distribution processes to ensure that products are delivered on time and in full. The solution provides visibility into current inventory and projected inventory and helps better align resources and labor to satisfy customer requirements. Unlike other warehouse management solutions, its reach extends beyond the warehouse walls through capabilities like Yard Management, Event Management, Performance Management, Transportation and Logistics, and RFID. SCM Warehouse Management supports technologies such as RF, voice, wave planning, cross docking and labor reporting.

In addition to the software licenses, Infor will provide Nanyang Polytechnic with online and telephone support resources, access to product updates, and other product-related support, education and documentation resources.
