Bexar County, Texas, Adopts Multi-Application ERP Suite from Lawson Software
23.08.2010
Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that Bexar County in Texas has selected Lawson for the multi-application deployment of the Lawson Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites.
The Lawson applications will help the county automate financial reporting, streamline procurement and improve operational efficiency. The contract was signed during Lawson's fourth quarter of fiscal year 2010, which ended May 31, 2010. Lawson Professional Services will provide implementation services for the project.
Bexar County, located in south-central Texas, has a population of more than 1,600,000 residents, making it the nineteenth most populous county in the nation. The county is also home to the city of San Antonio, one of the fastest-growing big cities in the United States. The engagement with Bexar County is the third deployment of Lawson products for public sector organizations in Texas in the last year.
"Our current IT system, which has been in place for more than 14 years, could no longer support the complex infrastructure and business operations of a county our size," said Susan Yeatts, Bexar County auditor. "We chose Lawson because of its in-depth product functionality, robust technological infrastructure and understanding of our needs and challenges. The Lawson system will help us reach a new level of efficiency in evaluating financial decisions and improving procurement processes," she added.
Specifically, the upgrade to Lawson will bring together core finance, procurement and business applications, including:
- Enterprise Financial Management, which will help the county manage finance and budgeting processes with greater visibility, automate accounting systems and better forecast revenue and expenditures.
- Supply Chain Management, which will help improve supply chain visibility and operational cost control for procurement, resource allocation and capacity planning. In particular, this suite includes specific functionalities for:
- Strategic Sourcing, which will help the county better manage procurement processes.
- Contract Management, which will help the county streamline contract creation, monitoring and maintenance processes while providing secure and auditable access to contract related documents from a centralized location. - Lawson Business Intelligence, which will help improve operational effectiveness and accountability by helping to simplify access to timely, accurate information.
"Moving to a modern, more functional IT system will help Bexar County better serve its growing constituency," said Brian Murphy, general manager, Public Sector for Lawson. "This significant IT upgrade will help support the county's strategic business initiatives by helping it better manage business operations and realize cost savings that can be reinvested back into the community."
