Solvo.WMS automates operations at a dairy plant warehouse in Nalchik

28.02.2014

SOLVO continues with the progression of Solvo.WMS, expanding the geographical presence of company projects.

Yet another implementation project of Solvo.WMS (solution for production warehouses) in Kabardino-Balkar at the Nalchik dairy plant, one of the facilities of “Ecomilk,” a major dairy product manufacturer. The facility, equipped with state-of-the art automated equipment made in Germany, Israel and France, puts out over 100 various goods.

Solvo.WMS has automated the majority of warehouses processes – from receiving to shipping. SOLVO has carried out system integration, radio surveying, selected necessary warehouse equipment, and performed installation.

The plant produces four types of goods: cultured milk products, sour cream, butter (both for retail and industrial purposes), and cheeses. The ready-made goods warehouse is not relatively large by area. The number of SKU’s exceeds 100 items. Goods are shipped to both large and small retail chains and independent stores.

The SOLVO implementation team decided to break down the go-live process into stages by the main product groups at the facility. This helped circumvent the disruption of the general shipping scheme. The following implementation sequence was set up: first, the cultured milk product followed by the sour cream and butter shop floors and, finally, the cheese shop floor. Each stage, in turn, was broken down into subsequent debugging of business processes: receiving from production, putaway, stock-keeping, shipping of goods to clients.

One of the client’s demands realized by Solvo.WMS was the ability to create goods shipping matrices based on production dates instead of expiration dates. Thus, depending on the conditions agreed upon in the contract between the parties, it would be possible to configure shipping rules in the system for each specific stakeholder with consideration of the expiration date as well as the production date.

Implementation at the warehouse complex was completed in November of 2013 and while it is too early to draw any definitive conclusions, the amount of errors, losses and write-offs were noticeably reduced along with the use of paper-based technology for warehouse business-processes.
