Jack Wolfskin places order with Klug iS

07.04.2009

Klug software for the administration of SKUs with the characteristic wolf pawprint: Intralogistics specialist Klug realises warehouse management and material flow controls for outdoor specialist Jack Wolfskin in their new logistics centre in Neu Wulmstorf

Unsufficient warehousing surface and lacking expandability at the previous location induced the leading supplier of outdoor equipment Jack Wolfskin to build a new logistics centre in Neu Wulmstorf. They will supply their customers throughout Europe from there as from the end of 2009.

Under the responsibilty of general contractor TGW, Klug integrierte Systeme, the intralogistics specialist from the Upper Palatinate, grants on the one hand an optimised warehouse management with iWACS.WM (Warehouse Management). On the other hand, iWACS.MFC (Material Flow Control) provides for the smooth material flow in the automatic carton store (AKL) with 12 aisles, in the shelf rack store (FBL) and in the manual pallet store (PL).

The special feature in the AKL is the dynamic mixed allocation of goods so that the fields can be used according to requirement. This means double or triple deep storage and a variable allocation of the AKL fields with 6, 8 or 12 cartons. This flexibility permits a capacity of up to 193,000 storage locations. Supplied by the replenishment AKL, 24 workstations in the FBL are used for picking. These workstations are interconnected fully automatically by conveyor technology. Picking is executed by means of hand-held RF terminals from 44,000 shelf rack locations on two floors with three levels each. The hand-held RF terminals which are also used in the pallet store are controlled and administrated by iWACS.TRM (Transport Resource Management).

The intralogistics software is completed by another module of the tried and tested iWACS® concept by Klug: iWACS.SIAM (Service Interface, Analysis and Monitoring) visualises the system up to the control level.

The detailed specification phase for the introduction of iWACS® has been finished in the meantime. The implementation of iWACS.TRM will already begin in April; and trial operation with overall iWACS® will be started at the end of September. The delivery throughout Europe with a peak capacity of 3,500 parcels per day will commence at the end of 2009.
