DKC prefers Solvo.WMS

The automation project for the 12,000 m2 warehouse complex of DKC was successfully completed in Tver. DKC has once again turned to SOLVO (in 2005, SOLVO.WMS was already successfully implemented at one of DKC’s warehouses, located also in Tver) for the task of automating the new warehouse complex.

SOLVO was faced with a challenging task of automating a warehouse complex that would be operating round-the-clock.

Specifics of business-processes at the warehouse:

The warehouse complex is situated near a production plant (manufacturing facility of metallic and plastic goods). The goods arrive at the warehouse, where they are subsequently allocated by various types of storage zones.

  • Frame-based storage – floor storage of 2-3 meter frames (special type of tare for storing long loads) with metallic products in the stack while specifying the two-dimensional position of the load (by height and depth);
  • Pallet rack storage – for storing accessories on pallets (switches, outlets, flexible pipes, alloys, cartons);
  • Box mezzanine storage – for small piece materials.

Consolidation is used at the warehouse to expedite the processing client orders: orders with the same destination are grouped together for joint picking.

While the pre-commissioning mechanism is used for orders to raise the performance of equipment operating in the rack storage area: loads with A and B class goods are taken down by a stacker truck from the top to the bottom tiers in advance for subsequent order picking by operators.

An old warehouse with an area of 10,000 m2 was also connected within the framework of SOLVO.WMS implementation to work under a single WMS system. All moves between these two separate warehouses are recorded using transit technology.

Therefore, two full-scale tasks were realized in one project: the automation of a new warehouse and the implementation of a fully-fledged SOLVO.WMS system at the old warehouse.

The outlook for both companies includes a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership and the realization of many future projects.

Proprietary warehouse complexes, the latest automated warehouse management system - SOLVO.WMS, and streamlined logistical processes and services allow DKC to guarantee that its customers will always receive the right quantity of goods, on time.
