SOLVO has completed yet another automation process for the warehouse of the Ameria Russ company located in Moskovskaya oblast.

SOLVO has completed yet another automation process for the warehouse of the Ameria Russ company located in Moskovskaya oblast.

Ameria Russ is a major supplier of European foods and pastry items for the Russian market.

The automation project of the company’s warehouse was held in several stages. Initially, the project was planned for the company’s multi-level warehouse in Moscow.

However, after going through an evaluation, SOLVO specialists realized that the current warehouse was not technologically-capable and had inconsistencies in regards to certain parameters, standards and client demands.

Thus, it was decided to move to a new class-A warehouse complex »Terminal Bulatnikovo« with an area of 15,000 square meters, where a Solvo.WMS warehouse automation system was already implemented and fully-functional.

Meanwhile, at the first stage, Ameria Russ specialists underwent training with Solvo.WMS and gained valuable experience in automating certain warehouse processes specific to the company using Solvo.WMS. The obtained experience enabled the company to move to the new warehouse in the shortest time possible and with minimal losses.

The goal Ameria Russ was to achieve maximum shipment and order accuracy, while taking into account that it works with the largest retail network Metro and other hypermarkets such as Perekrestok, Lenta, etc.

Warehouse specs

The new high-tech warehouse, which corresponds to the client requirements, simultaneously supports 1,662 SKUs. Three standard reachstakers are used for shipping-loading operations as well as 2 reachstackers with telescopic forks for Double Deep technology applied in addition to rack and high-rise storage.

The Double Deep system is similar to the regular front rack storage with the exception that the pallets are placed into the depth in twos. This storage method makes it possible to increase storage density while retaining a high number of SKU with direct access.

Unlike the standard storage technology, with which the warehouse space usage coefficient does not exceed 45%, Double Deep tech increases this number to 62%.

Pastry items are stored separately on the mezzanine, which maintains a constant temperature with the help of cooling mechanisms, which is also used for unit picking.

Warehouse automation

After the implementation of Solvo.WMS warehouse personnel does not need to manually monitor the goods by expiration date – the system tracks it automatically, which is especially important for food storage, particularly if 20% of the items have sensitive expiration dates.

Moreover, Solvo.WMS makes it possible to accurately track items based on their fragility (metal, glass and plastic). The given function is especially important since the warehouse has 3 categories for fragility that must be adhered to when moving, storing and transporting items.

Considering these specifics when creating pallets on racks, for example, it is necessary to place the goods in the following manner depending on their package fragility: metal canned items at the bottom, then glass packaging followed by the light plastic at the top.

All of these nuances are automatically taken into account by Solvo.WMS due to flexible rules and strategies upon the issuance of a putaway task to the warehouse operator. In result, the picker will not have to make as many moves during order assembly.

Results

Significant improvement in the productivity of warehouse operations can already be seen after the implementation of Solvo.WMS. It was possible to achieve maximum accuracy of goods picking, shipping and tracking as the speed of receiving was increased by 40%. Now the flow of goods can be completely controlled by the system.
