abat Group with new headquarters from summer 2026

30.04.2024

On April 25, 2024, the foundation stone was laid for our new headquarters in Bremen's Überseestadt. The well-attended event marked another milestone after 25 years of successful expansion and confirmed our loyalty to Bremen as a business location.

André Tülp and Timm Dorkowski, managing directors of Bremen-based architects dt&p, opened the official part of the ceremony together with our board member Björn Lampe. Then State Councilor Kai Stührenberg took the floor to offer his congratulations on behalf of the Senate and the State of Bremen. After that a time capsule was embedded in the future brickwork. The capsule contained a construction drawing, a daily edition of the Weser Kurier newspaper, several Euro coins and, of course, a bottle of brandy. Finally, as part of our spring team event, we celebrated with dt&p employees, construction workers, business partners and customers until late in the evening with delicacies from food trucks and beverage carts.

The office building at Johann-Reiners-Platz 1, designed and developed by dt&p, will unfold on the trapezoidal plot into a striking structure that blends seamlessly into the urban landscape. Together with dt+p, we will move into the new building, which consists of a seven-story and a five-story section. There will also be space for other tenants. A surrounding base of exposed concrete with large, discreetly pointed openings and a consistent clinker brick facade on the upper floors with structured and recessed window bands reflect the industrial context of Überseestadt in terms of form and material. A glass façade in the middle of the building offers transparency to the public, and newly planted trees soften the area between the building and the street.

With a gross floor area of approximately 12,000 square meters and a usable floor area of approximately 8,100 square meters, the building offers state-of-the-art office space and meeting places for socializing, creativity, or quiet work. The sustainable design, including the use of district heating, and the planned DGNB Silver certification also demonstrate our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Among other things, the area sealed by the building will be restored as green space, the five-story part of the building will be greened in the form of several roof gardens, and a photovoltaic system is planned for the roof area of the 7th floor. To further reduce the environmental footprint, the entire building will be heated by concrete core temperature control in the ceilings.

Many of our colleagues have been working on the office design for several months now, so that we can move in on time in the summer of 2026.
