Another strong year for Consafe Logisitcs

Ulf Wallin, new CEO for Consafe Logistics, gives his view on the year to come for the company – as well as shedding some light on his background and why he wants to head up one of the most exciting logistics companies in the world today

I doubt if any company in the world has a stronger portfolio in logistics expertise, WMS systems and logistics equipment than Consafe Logistics. So it is an honour for me to become CEO, a post I took up on August 1st. I look forward to the challenges to come, both in the next few months as I get to grips with a whole new, growing and exciting business; and in the next few years as we set course to consolidate and build Consafe Logistics into a world-leading logistics company.

Successful financial year
I am pleased to be taking over a company that enjoyed a very successful year. Our financial year closed at the end of June, and I am happy to report that we have experienced excellent growth and satisfactory profitability. We are number 1 in Scandinavia and our Swedish operation is going very well. We gained several new customers, strengthened our position with many of our current ones, and are now looking for new challenges in Eastern Europe through our acquisition of Polish Selmar. Biltema, The Runsven Group, BKI Kaffe and AJ Products are important new customers, while we have extended our business with important chains such as IKEA, ICA, DSG International, Bacho Tools, Carlsberg, Arla Foods and Netto. We are looking to consolidate on this good work and strengthen our position and market share. Companies are investing in solutions that make their businesses more effective and the trend for the near future seems positive. I expect us to continue growing, both organically and through more acquisitions.

Our strength lies in our ability to supply a total logistics system to our customers, which they really appreciate. This positive performance is due both to our offering and the expertise and dedication of our staff. We have quickly developed from the fusion of two companies and are well on the way to becoming recognised as one of the top logistics companies in the world. Our ownership structure is strong and the goal is to continue our expansion in the coming year. However we will ensure that we carefully manage the rate of our expansion in a controlled way. One focus area for us in the near future will be to refine our support organisation as we expand, enabling us to help our customers wherever they are, and with whatever needs they may have.

Long-term success through quality assurance
Companies like SKF, IKEA, Carlsberg, etc., don't choose any company. They choose companies who provide the best solution for them. They want companies who are proven and reliable, that will not experience liquidity or supply problems. This is what creates a positive spiral. We are committed to making sure our customers get the same or even better quality of service in the years to come. Service that matches the excellent products we sell and that is a part of the total package we offer.

New acquisition
We have now acquired Selmar in Poland. By buying Selmar we are investing in an established brand on the Polish market. Today, Selmar has 62 employees with a head office in Warsaw and sales offices in other parts of Poland. This gives us a solid platform to make a successful entry into Eastern Europe. With 44 million people and one of the highest rates of economic growth, Poland is an exciting market as many of the world's leading companies are investing here.
