Efficient through automated WMS rules in PSIwms

20.11.2024

Warehouse management systems play a central role in warehouse logistics by minimizing faulty processes and thereby reducing costs. A decisive advantage of these systems lies in the so-called WMS rules, which act as an automated basis for decision-making and offer employees a clear structure and guidelines. But what makes WMS rules so valuable?

Missing or inconsistent specifications often lead to individual decisions by employees, which in turn can result in inconsistent processes and errors. This is where WMS rules and regulations come into play: they define processes based on fixed criteria and enable a uniform, reproducible approach. This reduces the error rate and saves valuable time. A special feature of PSIwms is its comprehensive configurability, which allows customized rules for every warehouse process – from goods receipt to shipping.

For example, PSIwms rulesets enable optimal storage of different carrier units. If a particular rack is full, a downstream rule or »catcher line« ensures that alternatives such as block storage are automatically suggested. This way, the employee can be sure that they are following the correct process.

While configuring a WMS set of rules requires thorough planning, this effort pays off in the end. The result is structured, error-free warehouse logistics that save companies time, money and stress.
