KNAPP committed to sustainable management

For many years KNAPP AG has stood for continuous quality management and was again certified through Quality Austria according to ISO 9001, and according to OHSAS 18001 for the first time in the area of occupational health and safety

The KNAPP AG is aware of its economic, ecological and social responsibilities and acts accordingly. There is a strong connection between the three dimensions of sustainability requiring long-term balanced coordination. Internal processes are continuously evaluated and rated according to effectiveness and efficiency. Developing measures for improvement raises performance and productivity which finally profits customers and increases competitiveness.

The successful realization was primarily due to the efforts of two KNAPP employees, Wolgang Pessenhofer, business excellence assessor and first contact person for integrated management systems, and Hans Leersch, safety and quality manager with many years experience in all issues concerning product and system safety, and occupational health and safety.

Sustainable intralogistic solutions

KNAPP's all-in-one intralogistic solutions are developed with regard to every aspect of sustainability. KNAPP pays a great deal of attention to ergonomic analysis and applies the findings to the design of the product. In the OSR Shuttle™, KNAPP produces a warehouse system that is especially distinguished by its energy efficiency. The power requirements are less than ten percent of the energy consumed by a conventional automated small parts warehouse. The system and the goods-to-person work station are moreover TÜV certified.

Environmental awareness with ÖKOPROFIT® Graz

For more than ten years KNAPP has been a member of ÖKOPROFIT, the environmental programme of the city of Graz, and is constantly optimizing efficiency in terms of raw materials and energy at the Hart bei Graz headquarters. The office building and production halls at the KNAPP AG headquarters cover about 40,000 m². Efficiency measures are continuously implemented at the existing buildings. New buildings, such as the recently completed Corporate Headquarters and Development Centre, are designed up front to have energy efficiency class A. Since the extension of the suburban railway, employees can commute to work with public transportation that is easy, comfortable and above all environmentally friendly.

TRIGOS award for employee orientation

Qualified, satisfied employees form a central pillar of KNAPP's success. KNAPPvital, the TRIGOS 09 award-winning programme for company health promotion, contributes significantly to the attractive work environment. The TRIGOS honours companies for their successful businesses and responsible behaviour. KNAPPvital offers courses and lectures to all employees which contribute to their physical and psychological well-being. In the company restaurant, designed according to the principles of Feng Shui, employees can restore their energy and have the opportunity to relax during the lunch break; food is in part regionally supplied, supporting the local economy. The Styrian Health Award, Fit on the Job, was awarded to KNAPP AG in 2008 for the second time.

Certification according to ISO 14001

KNAPP AG has more plans for future steps in sustainable economic development. Next to further product development, KNAPP is striving for the the ÖKOPROFIT distinction in May 2011 again, and has also set the goal of first-time certification according to the international environmental management standards ISO 14001 by the end of 2011.
