Counting Meters

08.12.2011

RheinEnergie depends upon serial number management with SAP Add-On from inconso AG

Meters are the central interface for the supply of gas, electricity, district heating networks and water to consumers. For the supply companies, their procurement, installation, management and support is an important service, but also a decisive cost factor. RheinEnergie AG has decided to reorganize all the corresponding processes and to specifically connect its IT technical processing to the existing ERP system. inconso AG was commissioned with the design and realization of this task.

All processes in the meter warehouse were optimized in order to complete the booking of receipts, reallocations, rebooking and store-out processes without a large manual effort. Especially the goods receiving process that must be represented for the two warehouses and the different divisions (gas, water and district heating networks, electricity) is complex and that in part specific serial numbers are requested for delivery. The result is a secure, flexible solution that is also easy to extend for new (legal) regulations.

For this purpose, a concept for the warehouse management on the basis of SAP LES was created first with which an optimal and practical solution for an exact warehouse location management of the meters in are areas of two warehouses could be realized. For the first time, the serialization of meters is possible down to the warehouse location level. For the serial number management on location level, an SAP Add-On from inconso AG is used. With the SAP Add-On, it is possible to manage the serial numbers in SAP LES on a location basis leading to the possibility to store in and out specific individual serial numbered products.
