Dematic expands in the Chinese market

With the opening of a modern TechCenter Dematic continues to develop its presence and commitment to the rapidly developing Chinese economy.

In December 2011 Dematic completed its new TechCenter in Suzhou located just 120 kilometers northwest of Shanghai. Suzhou is a booming industrial city prominent for computer and automobile manufacturing and has a rapidly growing population of 7 million people.

The Dematic TechCenter, which contains a Brand Center known in China as an "Imagination Center", is designed to show Chinese customers the competitive power of an efficient supply-chain. It is the first of its type in Asia and is located in Dematic’s newly extended 10,000 square meter factory.
 
"Dematic acquired a small SRM manufacturer in China in 1993 and has invested heavily in R&D specifically for the China market", explained Dematic CEO Hubert Kloss.
 
The impressive Chinese TechCentre shows complete material flow solutions from unit load to carton load to split case picking. "Some of the equipment was shown at CeMat 2011 in Hanover including Multishuttle Flex, Rapid Pick and MCS." said Kloss. The TechCenter also displays transfer cars, pallet conveyor and a RapidStore1224 unit load AS/RS especially designed for the Chinese market and manufactured in Suzhou.
 
Today with a wide range of customers in Pharmaceutical, food & beverage, retail, electronics, apparel, manufacturing and distribution Dematic is the leading foreign supplier of automated material handling solutions in China. "Dematic has adopted an aggressive world-wide growth strategy. China plays an important role in that strategy", said Hubert Kloss. "With the TechCentre we will continue to foster the large interest that the Chinese market has in fine German engineering."
