Frutura and KNAPP strengthen their SAP® EWM partnership

To realize the necessary adaptations of their existing SAP® EWM solution to the processes for their new logistics center in Vorchdorf, Austria, Frutura once again relied on KNAPP's expertise.

Already since 2020, KNAPP IT Solutions GmbH, the SAP® EWM competence center of the KNAPP group, has been supporting Frutura’s locations in Hartl and Sattledt, Austria, via its 24/7 SAP® EWM Service Desk and optimized their SAP® EWM solutions.

As a wholesaler, the company supplies one of the largest Austrian retail chains for food with fruit and vegetables daily. To secure this supply chain in the long term and to meet the constantly increasing demand, Frutura acquired an existing building in Vorchdorf and revitalized it into a modern logistics center with around 7,000 square meters of storage and cooling space.

Frutura uses SAP® S4/HANA with embedded SAP® EWM for warehouse management and to fulfill the transparency and traceability requirements for fruit and vegetable production. »KNAPP is available to us around the clock for SAP® EWM questions and has also already optimized our existing SAP® EWM solutions in Hartl and Sattledt in the best possible way. Therefore, it was obvious for us to realize and implement the adaptation of the software to the conditions of the new logistics center in Vorchdorf together with KNAPP,« explains Gerald Goldgruber, strategic head for process management and SAP at Frutura.

More than just a hotline service – SAP® EWM Consulting for Frutura

The cooperation between Frutura and KNAPP started back in 2020 when Frutura was looking for 24/7 support for their SAP® EWM solution. This developed into a partnership that has become more than a hotline service, as Gerald Goldgruber reports: »For us, KNAPP is the ideal SAP® EWM partner because they not only have the software expertise, but also the necessary process and industry know-how. Although we did not originally implement SAP® EWM with KNAPP, they know our special characteristics in detail and constantly show us optimization potentials, which we continuously implement together.«

»Our 24/7 SAP® EWM Service Desk was once the starting point of our cooperation with Frutura. Now, this has expanded into consulting and implementation. And this partnership exactly reflects our claim. We see ourselves as a long-term partner and value-adding full-service provider for our customers in the area of SAP® logistics solutions. And this is regardless of whether we start our cooperation initially in the course of a first-time implementation or with services for an existing implementation,« adds Thomas Kovacec, Head of SAP® EWM Customer Service at KNAPP IT Solutions. Based on a detailed analysis of the processes, material flows, and systems at the new site in Vorchdorf, KNAPP developed a customized and comprehensive optimization concept. This included the creation of new storage bins, the adaptation of the bin sorting and putaway strategy, as well as the extension of the queue determination in the existing SAP® EWM implementation for daily storage and retrieval. Due to the size of the orders and their punctual delivery, KNAPP also supports Frutura’s approximately 200 SAP® EWM users for this new location via individual 24/7 support.
