Körber builds two fully automated high-tech warehouses for global commercial vehicle spare parts supply

he Körber technology group is building a fully automated high-bay warehouse and a fully automated small parts warehouse for Daimler Truck, one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers.

Körber is thus responsible for the state-of-the-art technological heart of the new Global Parts Centre, which the commercial vehicle manufacturer is having built for its global spare parts supply at the Halberstadt site (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany). The automated small parts warehouse will take the form of an AutoStore, and the material flow will be controlled using SAP EWM MFS. It will be commissioned in stages from 2025.

Körber was able to impress with its holistic, integrative concept for this complex large-scale project. In addition to the two fully automated high-tech warehouse systems, Körber is also responsible for the building technology in the high-bay warehouse and the silo racking system, including the roof and wall panelling. The end-to-end technology expert is thus creating a high-performance infrastructure that will enable the commercial vehicle manufacturer to supply its customers worldwide with spare parts reliably, quickly, comprehensively and efficiently - from the smallest screw to the finished truck cab. In future, the Global Parts Centre will store up to 300,000 different items, which can be delivered to almost 3,000 vehicle dealers in over 170 countries around the world.

Körber is acting as general contractor and system integrator for the logistics of the two high-tech warehouses and is also providing material flow control using SAP EWM MFS. An AutoStore system from Körber, supplied by partner Element Logic, will be integrated into the small parts warehouse.
