Böcker builds new warehouse in Werne with viastore technology
29.09.2025
The family-owned company Böcker from Werne has commissioned viastore to build a new warehouse. The high-performance intralogistics solution creates space for 7,500 pallets and almost 14,000 containers. This will enable the medium-sized company to future-proof its logistics.
Böcker has been manufacturing solutions for height access technology since 1958. The company developed the first mobile truck crane in lightweight aluminum construction and launched the first aluminum trailer crane on the market in 1997. Today, the specialist for cranes, inclined lifts, and rack and pinion technology employs around 600 people. The family is now in its third generation of running the business. »People are our focus,« says Managing Director Alexander Böcker, describing his corporate philosophy. This attitude is also reflected in the new warehouse: technology should make the work of employees easier and at the same time increase efficiency.
Two warehouses for different requirements
viastore is installing two different warehouse solutions. Two viaspeed storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) are used for the automated small parts warehouse (AKL). These serve almost 14,000 container locations. The automated pallet warehouse is served by three viapal storage and retrieval machines. Two workstations are planned for the pallet warehouse and five for the AKL. An expansion of four additional stations is possible.
Intelligent software connects all areas
The viadat warehouse management system (WMS) manages both automated warehouses as well as five adjacent manual areas. The software controls all workflows from goods receipt to shipping and can be expanded as needed. Böker is currently planning for 30 users. The logistics facility is scheduled to go into operation in the summer of 2026. This will enable Böcker to optimize its manufacturing processes. The family-owned company is thus setting the course for future growth. If necessary, the scalable system can be expanded and adapted to changing requirements. This allows the long-established company to remain flexible and competitive.
