New automatic parcel-sorting system order for Vanderlande Industries

12.07.2010

Vanderlande Industries has received an order from Bartolini, Italy’s number one express parcel company, to install a further automatic parcel-sorting system in its new logistics centre in Landriano, south-east of Milan.

The new system will be the 18th POSISORTER supplied to Bartolini since 1998. The new sorter is the 18th such system to be installed in Bartolini sorting centres throughout Italy. Together with three existing centres, Bartolini’s new facility will serve the greater Milan area.

Highly accurate sorting of varying parcel flows

Like all the sorting systems supplied to Bartolini, the new system is a POSISORTER, which combines a high sorting capacity with optimum use of the available floor area. The highly accurate sorting performance reduces the number of misdirected parcels to an absolute minimum. The new system also includes Vanderlande’s GAPPEX pre-sorter technology, which automatically ensures optimum spacing between parcels of varying shapes and sizes. The system is scheduled to be integrated in Bartolini’s network immediately after Christmas 2010.

Total maintenance outsourcing

Bartolini has totally outsourced its maintenance requirements to Vanderlande. This has given the following advantages:

  • Security provided by the best technology available on the market
  • Timely assistance for urgent needs
  • Breakdown risks reduced to a minimum
  • Cost savings on technical staff.

Bartolini’s comprehensive distribution network, with 170 branches evenly spread across Italy, and the large volume of parcels handled each year, have meant that all the Bartolini branches are fitted with these high technology automatic sorting systems in order to allow fast and accurate routing of shipments.
